purpose : Rehabilitation exercise programs about cancer patients come to the fore in current rehabilitation now. Of all the cancers, breast cancer can be easily found in over 40-year old females and despite increased survival rates, common treatments like axillary dissection, radiotherapy chemotherapy makes patients more exhausted when they perform usual daily activities, makes their affected limb weaken.
That’s why department of physical rehabilitation & medicine in Wonkwang hospital evaluates muscle strength and cardiopulmonary function in breast cancer patients after treatment.

methods : we conducted an examination about muscle strength and cardiopulmonary function in breast cancer patients from 2015.5 to 2015.12 who visited Wonkwang physical rehabilitation & medicine. we evaluated muscle power about shoulder flexion, shoulder extension, elbow flexion, knee extension, and we regarded affected limb as debility, compared affected limb with non-affected limb. we evaluated ETT (exercise tolerance test), gas analysis in breast cancer patients, and compared it with normal female data who hasd no specific illness.

Result : Number of patients who entered this study was total 20, and healthy people was 38. In isokinetic test, we divided it to Rt side affected / Lt side affected. When compared weak side with normal side, there were no significant differences between 2 groups.
The results of ETT & gas analysis were that when examinees rested/exercised maximally, there were no significant differences of HR, SBP, DBP, RER between 2 groups, but in METs, VO2 peak, there were significant differences between 2 groups, having much lower values in breast cancer patients compared with normal examinees.

Conclusion :We suppose that patients cannot perform aerobic exercise equally like healthy people. In that case, we need to evaluate accurately when prescribing aerobic exercise intensity with breast cancer patients.
We suppose that breast cancer patients may have benefits when performing resistance exercise.
